The Wheels on My Bike Go Round and Round

I don't think I could've asked for better weather today and although I had plenty of tasks to keep me busy, I figured I'd take advantage of it while it lasts. So I lugged my mountain bike outside and took it for a ride along a nearby path down to the Bow River. When I go cycling I tend to travel light, so all I took with me was my E-P2 with its 14-42mm kit lens. If it's one thing that stands out in these photos, it's that I'm starting to enjoy pushing myself further when processing the pics with Photoshop. I used to be more of a shoot it and leave it as close as possible to the original photo type person, but now I feel different about nudging saturation beyond what I normally would and adding effects such as pinhole and sepia (for the shots below, everything was done in Photoshop versus using the E-P2's art filters). Still can't quite put my finger on it, but somehow these versions appeal more to me.

  1. Great pics once again. I especially like what you've done with the first shot - the bridge. It looks like it came from a different place and time. I almost expect to see a boy with bare feet, overalls, and a fishing pole happily sitting on the side.

  2. Thank you! The bridge is definitely my favorite shot in this set; does have that "early days" feel to it.
